“LOVE IS IN THE AIR” – Allan Hardman

Don Miguel Ruiz - Thu, 03/25/2010 - 01:28

I am writing this from my winter home in Chacala, Nayarít, Mexico. The moon is full, hanging softly overhead in a warm tropical night sky. I can hear the ocean waves caressing the sandy beach, and mariachi music is playing in the distance. What could be more romantic?? In fact, this scenario is often used as the ultimate attainment, especially when advertising is encouraging you to buy something or take some action guaranteed to make you feel like the couple in a photo– holding hands and splashing at the edge of the surf or sitting sipping tropical drinks in the moonlight.

There is a feeling that most all humans are missing and searching for; it’s the feeling of peace from knowing they are okay. The unfortunate thing is that searching and trying to achieve that okay-ness is doomed to failure, because it implies you are not okay now, here, as you are. The very okay-ness that we are often searching for is right here all the time, as us, in the perfection of the Divine Oneness that is in and through all of creation.

We can’t see our okay-ness when we are searching for it. It is not lost, and can’t be found. It can only be accepted as the truth right now. It does not need tropical moonlight nights, expensive cruises, the right partner, lots of money, well-behaved children, or any of the other out-of-reach goals that promise the finish line in the race for okay-ness.

If we enter romantic relationships trying to gain approval and love by being what our partner wants us to be, we are doomed. It will not be a conscious relationship; it will be a dance of lies. You deserve better than a dance of lies. You really do. As I say in Allan’s Axiom #27: “If you are pretending to be someone you are not in order to hold on to a relationship, you have already lost it.” And, most important, you have lost your relationship with yourself.

The moon is shining. Love is in the air. The moon loves us. It reflects the light of the sun, the powerful messenger of Life for everything on this planet. The sun loves us. The air loves us. Take a deep breath right now… a deep conscious breath. The air that you breathe in loves you. It gives and sustains your very Life itself. That is love. Breathe again. Deeply and gently and receive the gift of love.

The moon and sun and air don’t demand anything from you in order love you and give you the gift of Life. There are no bargains needed, no commitments to make, and no obligations created when you accept that love. It is freely given, and, I assume, freely received.

Spring is coming. It is a new year, a new beginning. I invite you to use this time to feel the love in the air… to recognize you are okay because you are here. The sun and moon and air know it. They offer you the most precious gift, the gift of Life, each and every moment. Perhaps you can ask them to be your guide to loving yourself and others they way they love you. Your okay-ness is reflected in the love you receive from creation. You are hereby approved, and need to do nothing more! The search is over.

Take this love you receive from creation into all your relationships. Give it as freely as it has been given to you. It doesn’t even matter how it is received. The air doesn’t care if you are grateful for it’s love—it gives because that is its nature. Perhaps your nature is the same as the air’s—after all, you and the air and the sun and moon are all parts of the same creation.

Take a deep breath.

And love.

Attracting Michelle Malone

Joe Vitale's RSS - Sat, 03/20/2010 - 22:08

One of my all time favorite singer songwriters is Michelle Malone.  She’s played private house concerts in my home four times over as many years. I love her power and passion. She gave a rocking performance again just last night. Here are some photos to share the moment with you:

This is Michelle after the show playing my second Saddle Pal guitar, created by luthier Chris Jenkins:

Here’s Michelle before the show playing my first Saddle Pal, a guitar with explosive and surprising volume, also made by Chris Jenkins:

Here’s Michelle with my guitar teacher Mathew Dixon:

And here’s Michelle (playing my Robert Taylor all Koa wood amazing guitar) and her band rocking my house and my world:

I had a blast with Michelle. She’s light, fun, funny, and smart. I also showed her and her band my Alien Guitar. They’ll never forget it. I’ll share that clip with you later.

Nerissa filmed the show last night. Until it’s ready to share with you, here’s an excerpt of Michelle Malone’s 2007 concert in my home with me playing harmonica with her:

A Secret to Self-Help

Joe Vitale's RSS - Sun, 03/14/2010 - 14:44

What’s a key to self-help, self-improvement or self-development?

Meet Ace Pepper.

Ace is the most upbeat, revved up and amped up guy I know. He absolutely loves making amplifiers for musicians.

I’ve seen people in love with their work before – from plumbers to postal workers to electrical repair people — but Ace Pepper takes the passion award.

The man is plugged in. He lives to make amps and does for famous musicians. I met him at a guitar show I attended with Pat O’Bryan. I liked Ace’s energy and was curious to what made him so contagiously happy.

I didn’t see Ace for almost a year, though. When one of my amps started to whistle when it was supposed to hum, I thought of Ace. Pat and I went to see him, my old amp in tow.

Ace gave me an hour lesson in how amps are built.

It was exciting.

It was in-depth.

It was intense.

I didn’t understand any of it.

But the guy’s boyish enthusiasm for his work was riveting.

I ended up hiring Ace to make me the amp of all amps.

I told Ace I wanted something so astonishing that Bruce Springsteen would hear the legend of it and contact me, wanting to buy it.

Now here’s where this gets interesting.

I don’t know how to use a professional amp.  Oh, I know how to plug a guitar cable into it and turn it on. But Ace’s amps have a dozen dials, multiple plug-in holes, and wires coming out of the back of it. He makes amps that would challenge Tesla. Having him build me a professional custom-made amp was asking him to build me a car I couldn’t drive.

Yet.

And that’s a secret to self improvement.

I told Ace I wanted him to build me an amp that I would “grow into.”

What I meant is this: I’ll learn how to use the amp once I have it. I’ll experiment, ask questions, make mistakes and grow. I’ll stretch myself into a comfortable fit.

This is true of virtually anything you want to learn.

Set an intention and then start working/playing/learning to grow into it.

Same with singing.

I don’t sing.  Never used to, anyway. But I decided to do something huge and daring – not knowing exactly how I would accomplish it – and announced one day I would put on a one-man theatrical show called “Mr. Fire’s Wonder Show: An Evening of Magic, Music and Miracles.”

Talk about establishing a goal I’d need to grow into!

Singing?

Magic?

Miracles?

Well, the Law of Attraction kicked in and I started to attract the people and coaches I need to make that goal come true.

I stumbled into a vocal coach by the name of Guy Monroe. The guy is a-maz-ing. He’s also amped up about his work.

He took me under his wing, coached me with his vocal and verbal methods, and terrific upbeat energy, and I’m now singing Neil Young, Neil Diamond, Harry Chapin and more.

Recently I startled myself by singing Glen Hansard’s wonderful song, Falling Slowly, from the movie Once. I didn’t think I had a shot at getting close to the song, as it has such vocal extremes in it, from soft to shrill.

But Guy coached me, encouraged me, and I went for it.

I not only sang it, but I sang it pretty darn good.

Of course, I’m no Glen Hansard, but I’m an excellent Joe Vitale.

I’m proud of myself for daring something worthy and learning how to sing, accelerating my guitar playing, and getting an amp I have no idea how to use — yet.

Again, if you want to know a secret to self-help and self-improvement, re-read this post.

And then set a big, bold, daring goal for yourself, based on your passion.

It will help you “amp it up”.

Expect Miracles.

Ao Akua,

Joe

Fitness Model Jennifer Nicole Lee’s Law of Attraction Secret

Joe Vitale's RSS - Wed, 03/10/2010 - 13:38

International fitness model Jennifer Nicole Lee sent me this photograph of her wearing one of my limited edition T-shirts for my new book, Attract Money Now:

Jennifer was a Phantom Rider last January, when ABC News filmed our entire Rolls-Royce Phantom Mastermind together. That’s when I met her for the first time.

I already knew who she was from her famous infomercial for the Ab Circle Pro, from all the magazine covers she’s posed for (300), from her weight loss success story (which Oprah reported on) and from her book (which I wrote the foreword to).

But nothing prepared me for the experience of meeting Jennifer herself.

She’s beautiful, yes, but also upbeat, optimistic, positive thinking, charismatic, funny, likable, lovable, smart, persistent and oh so much more.

Yes, I liked her.

But there’s more to her than the obvious.

My driver that night said if Jennifer isn’t my #1 groupie, she’s at least my #1 fan.

She not only arrived with luggage full of my books that she wanted me to sign, but she also showed me her ipod and how it was loaded with all of my audio books. She often works out listening to The Attractor Factor.

But her ipod also had everything by me, from the iTunes self-help hit The Solution to my bestselling CD and DVD course on using the Law of Attraction to attract money, The Secret to Attracting Money.

As the evening went on, she would quote my own teachings back to me, such as “The more money you spend, the more money you receive.”

It’s clear that Jennifer is successful because she feeds her mind with success thoughts, stays positive, and takes action.

Every morning she and her assistant get in the car and drive around Florida, masterminding, brainstorming, and dreaming big.

She also read my latest book, Attract Money Now and said:

“This page-turner reveals the real secrets to attracting money! I love it!”

I confess that when Jennifer booked her evening with me for the Phantom Rider experience, I wasn’t sure how I could help her. After all, she’s already successful. And she’d already read all my books and listened to all my programs.

What was left?

But she later told me — as well as ABC News — that she got her money’s worth within the first 15 minutes of our conversation. We generated new ideas and came up with money-making plans she hadn’t thought of before. She loved it.

And the end of the evening, Jennifer gave me a million-dollar smile and said, “And the best part of tonight is you didn’t ask for a percentage for your ideas!”

You (and I) can learn from the secret of Jennifer Nicole Lee.

Focus on what you want, surround yourself with positive people and positive thought, and take action.

As Jennifer ends all her emails, what’s left is to just “Believe!”

Ao Akua,

Joe

How to Treat People

Joe Vitale's RSS - Sun, 03/07/2010 - 15:22

A reader watched my DVD, Humbug, and emailed me this question:

“Was there one point in your life that was the turn around? I often ask people who’ve obviously hitched themselves to a Saturn 5 rocket the same question.”

I get that question a lot.

I’ve been thinking about it long and hard.

I know that taking on the attitude that anything is possible is part of the answer.  So is knowing the Law of Attraction and the idea that getting clear leads to preferred results.  So is always saying yes to life. And so is the idea of being ruthlessly honest about your desires.

But those are mindsets I’ve developed over time. They don’t answer the question about the single event that changed my life.

The thing is, there’s no “one point” where everything shifted for me. It was more a series of defining moments, some more memorable than others. For example:

Landing the book deal to write The AMA Complete Guide to Small Business Advertising for the American Marketing Association back in 1993, was a marker for me. I wasn’t paid much money (almost none) but it was my first book deal with a traditional publisher and the project made me feel accomplished and important. It also got me more clients and more speaking engagements. (I still love the book and use it myself, though sadly it’s now out of print. Some of it ended up in my book, Hypnotic Writing .)

Recording my program, The Power of Outrageous Marketing for Nightingale-Conant in 1997, was another turning point for me, one I had longed to have for over ten years. People who knew that company and their wonderful products began to treat me like I was a deity in the marketing world. That also influenced my own sense of value. (That’s also when I raised my fees. ) The program still sells like crazy today, and I’m still very proud of it. (One of my favorite sections is where I stage an interview with the great circus showman and master marketer, P.T. Barnum.)

Certain people helped me step up to a new level, as well.

Paul Hartunian changed my life. This publicity genius who once sold the Brooklyn Bridge as a PR stunt and got on Johnny Carson for it, once spent three hours over dinner in Houston telling me how to change my business. I took notes. I acted. Paul’s giving was a defining moment in my career. I’ll never forget him. He’s one of my heros.

Mandy Evans has been a “miracles coach” in my life for more than twenty years. This wonderful author of such books as Travelling Free has always been only a phone call away. Whenever I feel stuck and ready for the next level, I call her. I love her. She helps me get clear .

Bob Proctor — a living legend in the self-help movement — changed my life when he politely nudged me to publish the little book I was fearful about releasing, Spiritual Marketing. That book became an Amazon bestseller twice, got me into The New York Times, and led to my rewriting it and seeing J. Wiley publish it as the now long running classic, The Attractor Factor. And of course that book got me into the movie The Secret, which led to my being on Larry King, eXtra TV, CNN, CNBC, ABC, Time, Newsweek and…well, you get the idea.

Obviously, there’s no one event that transformed me.

If you want to know more, I’ve written about my journey through life in such books as Adventures Within.  It reveals other defining moments and the people who triggered them for me.

I really wish there was a simple answer to the question of what was my turning point moment, so we could both learn from it. But what may be better is to assume every moment is your turn around one, and act from that perspective. Life would then take on a glow .

Backed into a corner, and forced to say something was the one thing that changed my career, I’d give credit to the Internet.

I began as an Internet skeptic in the early 1990s. I didn’t believe all the hype about gold in cyberspace.

I was wrong.

I later wrote one of the first books about online marketing (CyberWriting).

And later, when Mark Joyner urged me to let him release my first e-book (Hypnotic Writing ), I began to taste fame and fortune.

So I have to give credit to being active online as a turning point in my career. (Note I said active online. I was and am busy creating and promoting products, not waiting for the world to come to my door.) The Internet let me take what I was doing locally and distribute it to the world.

But, as you can see, it was one of many defining moments.

Maybe the best way to wrap this up is with the following story:

I’m hearing from people from my past who saw the movie The Secret and then searched for me online. When they get to my main site , they write me and ask something like, “Are you the same Joe Vitale I worked with thirty years ago?”

One gent did that a while back. Turns out we had worked at Exxon together long, long ago.

He saw me on Larry King and couldn’t believe my level of success. He wrote to me saying, “I wish I had known what a gem I was hanging around back then.”

I thought, what if each of us treated each other like we were gems already — just unrecognized and maybe unpolished.

Wouldn’t that single change of perspective make every moment of our lives a turning point?

As Goethe wrote, “Treat people as if they were what they ought to be, and you help them become what they are capable of being.”

Attracting Ray Bradbury

Joe Vitale's RSS - Tue, 03/02/2010 - 14:13

Sci-fi writer Ray Bradbury (The Martian Chronicles, The Illustrated Man, etc) has been another one of my inspirations. I met him decades ago. His 1992 book, Zen in the Art of Writing, inspired me as a writer. Lately I’ve been attracting signed copies of his books to add to my collection.  I love the man’s zest for life, which is what he says is a secret to great writing.

As I’ve been reacquainting myself with Bradbury, I went to his official site and watched some of the recent videos of him. One showed his library in his basement. It reminded me of my own vault of books. There were first editions of many authors who had influenced him.

It got me thinking. Just as Jules Verne influenced Bradbury, and Bradbury influenced me, virtually every successful person has been inspired/influenced by someone before them.

It’s another way to get coaching. I’m a firm believer that without coaching, you don’t grow very fast or go very far. Oh, you can still succeed, but it’s tougher. I think you need to find a role model in your field and aspire to their greatness.

Gene Landrum, one of my favorite psychological business writers (The Superman Syndrome, Power and Paronoia, etc), says all the greats do this. He points out that Oprah pretended to be Barbara Walters. In the beginning, I pretended to be Jack London, or Rod Serling, or Robert Collier, or William Saroyan, or Ray Bradbury. This psychological technique helped tease out my latent talents. As they grew, I integrated them all and became the author you read today.

If you want to attract success and break through your barriers and blocks, get a coach and get a hero.

Ray Bradbury is one of mine.

Sacred Time Management By HeatherAsh Amara

Don Miguel Ruiz - Fri, 02/26/2010 - 17:54

Satima, or SAcred TIme MAnagement, is the art of cultivating more connection to spirit in each moment. When we live our life as art we make room for creativity, flow, connection, synchronicity, and magic. We learn to slow down internally and make choices not from our fear, but from our stillness.  We put the yum back into work!

In the Western world we are trained to use our brains and our will to power through whatever needs to be done. As we become a more technological society and the speed of our communication increases, so does our own frantic pace to keep up. So many of us spend our time overwhelmed, feeling behind, frustrated, and never getting to the projects that lie in our heart. We cram meals and spirit in between work and getting the kids to school on time and paying bills. Our jobs become filled with drama or exhaustion or rote behavior. Our spirit begins to diminish from lack of nourishment.

We go into our work sometimes because we must, and sometimes because it is our joy. Yet how often do we end up swamped, not fulfilled, or burnt out? This problem is an epidemic in all types of work, from corporations to massage therapists, retail stores to spiritual teachers. No matter how exciting and service oriented your work may be if you do not clear out old habits they will compromise all that you do. This principle also applies to all of your relationships.

If you do not enjoy your work, clearing out your old belief systems will bring you a sense of ease and fulfillment, no matter what you are doing.

If you are planning to leave your boring corporate job to pursue your dreams you will re-create similar dynamics and issues if you do not also focus on cleaning up your own old agreements.

Satima is not about better tools to make you a faster, more efficient business machine. It is a complete rewiring of your system, a foundational shift. Satima cuts through old programming, fear, and survival strategies and invites you to start making choices from your essence rather than your head. It invites you to use the workplace (and the rest of your life!) to explore and unweave tangled energetics in your being. It asks you to take responsibility for your creation. It asks you to be more intimate with yourself, to live from your depth instead of your crust.

When we live from our crust we follow unconscious habits and patterns, or simply model ourselves after what everyone else is doing. In Sacred Time Management we start with bringing awareness to these behaviors as a means to more conscious choice and depth. The behaviors include:

Taking responsibility for other people’s actions and feelings

Not being clear in your agreements with yourself and others

Needing other people’s approval

Believing you have to do everything perfectly

Not attending to financial realities

Procrastinating and avoidance

Trying to control situations and people

Keeping busy and productive to prove you are a good person

Using punishment /guilt/shame to keep yourself or others in line

Needing to be right

Distracting yourself from the true work

And so we start with the foundational question of Satima: What is your true work?

Did you really incarnate to spend much of your time playing out the agreements in the list above? Or to be stressed out in your wonderful life? Or to feel impotent and that you are not living your fullest potential?

We do a funny mind twist around this question of “What is your true work?” “Well, when I finish this project/job/phone call/career then I’ll do what I really want/figure out what I want to do with my life/do my spiritual practice. Or it will get better, even though it has changed little over the years…”

We have bought into the cultural dream that if we only work hard for 40 years or so, then we will have a nice break and we can relax. We have bought into the cultural dream that if we only stay productive, everything will work out (we will get to go to heaven.) We have bought the cultural dream that we have to be perfect in order to be loved, and this causes us STRESS!

Your head may say, “Oh I don’t believe those things.” But look deeper into your actions. If you are living your true work, are you doing so with ease and joy? If you are searching for your true work, how are you using your situation against yourself?

What would it be like to feel centered, deeply present, and intimate with yourself in all aspects of your life? This is true Sacred Time Management. Each moment is precious, a gift. Sacred Time Management teaches us to unweave the gunk that creates heaviness and stress in our days, so that the purity of each moment may shine through.

Satima is about the willingness to go deeper, to expose our old agreements, and to clear them that we may live from our Center, no matter what we are doing.

The funny thing is that once we do the work to untangle we discover more space, more joy, and more productivity! It is a win/win situation!

But oooh your belief systems are not going to let you go easily. Satima is not a one-time quick fix, but a lifetime commitment to yourself.

Ask yourself what would Sacred Time Management feel like in your day? What would need to change? This article is like a magic spell, a new seed… let it infuse your life with more awareness and clarity around your true work.

Who’s kissing you now? by Barbara Emrys

Don Miguel Ruiz - Fri, 02/26/2010 - 17:49

Every human mind occupies a human body. Since you are the voice in your own head, the thinker and the storyteller, let’s call you the mind. You are destined to reside within a human being and live only as long as your human lives. What is your relationship to this human being? Is it by any chance romantic?

Your constant and loyal partner throughout this existence has been the body you inhabit. It has seen you through, well, everything – good times, bad times, life threatening situations, inspirations, and private pain. You, on the other hand, have probably treated it with indifference at best. It’s far more likely that you have abused and disrespected the body for a lifetime. Both body and mind are the living representation of infinite life, one being made of matter and one clearly not. Each is necessary to the survival of the other. A mutual intimacy is unavoidable, but your communication leaves something to be desired – and a relationship lives or dies on the quality of communication.

What sweet words are you whispering to your other half?  What gestures of kindness and compassion does it receive from you, if any? I love you, spoken out loud several times a day, would make a really good impression.  Thank you would be a stunning novelty. Appreciation never goes unappreciated. Forgive me would put things into dramatic perspective and also provide the best possible teaching. It might be that you have spent a lifetime dismissing your physical body, while expecting it to serve you in all ways at all times. You have spent a lifetime obsessing about yourself – you, the purveyor of thought. You have been boasting about yourself and railing against yourself and marketing yourself. In other words, you have been investing so much in what is not real that you have ignored what is real.

You, too, can eagerly submit, the way lovers submit to falling freely into love. But you let fear make your choices instead. Listen to the human body. Make modifications in thought and behavior for the sake of a great romance. Take the tyrant out of this relationship. You, the voice in your head – stop being such a bully. Stop needing to know. Stop needing to be right. Stop believing yourself. Get down. Bend a little. Put your head below your heart once in a while, just to see how it feels. Literally kiss the ground you walk on. Give yourself the time to feel true love wash through you and over you. Submit to the tidal wave. Yes, it will modify you – and it may, perhaps, obliterate you. You would be well advised to build a reality on that.

Our human quest to merge, life-to-life, is a divine directive. Birds, bees, bubble whales and buffalos wrap themselves around this truth without a story and without judgment. We are storytellers, however, and it’s important that we use our great storytelling talents to drink in the liquid, life-giving nectar of divine romance. Who’s kissing you now? Who’s touching you, tasting you, whispering words of love and praise to you? Could it be you – joining forces with life itself, the lover of all things? Such a keen awareness of life, as it surges behind the stories, is romance in action. It is everyone’s destiny to be in love, without a doubt. So, kiss this precious human. Touch it, hold it, reassure and rediscover it. Give up all pretense and fall headlong and forever into love with it.

The “59 Seconds” Self Help Book

Joe Vitale's RSS - Wed, 02/24/2010 - 18:55

When ABC News interviewed me for their upcoming show on the pros and cons of positive thinking and the Law of Attraction, one of their questions was, “Why are there so many self-help books?”

Apparently a published skeptic felt that if self-help books really worked, we wouldn’t need so many of them.

Does that make sense to you?

Consider –

With all the cookbooks in the world, there will always be more published, guaranteed. With all the books on psychology, or sales, or aviation, or pottery, or martial arts, or law, or religion, or marketing, or sports, or politics, or parenting, or skepticism, or – well, name any category – there will always be more books.

That doesn’t mean there’s a problem with the books already published. It doesn’t mean there’s a problem with the fields themselves, either. It means people are still growing and learning, discovering and sharing.

But somehow with self-help, it’s not accepted.

I find that odd.

I’ve spent most of the day reading Richard Wiseman’s book, 59 Seconds: Think a Little, Change a Lot. It’s mis-titled, as you can’t read much of it in 59 seconds. Still, it’s an excellent book. It’s research-based self-help. It’s packed with study after study proving or disproving concepts taught in the self-help movement. You should read it.

Side note: It’s interesting that scientific studies in the filed of psychology don’t usually come to any definitive conclusions. In other words, the studies indicate results may “suggest” a particular pattern or insight, but they don’t guarantee it. Even the so-called Law of Reciprocity can’t be guaranteed to work all the time.  When you give something to someone, it’s no guarantee they’ll give you anything in return. Still, authors call it a “law” when they don’t allow any leeway for the Law of Attraction. In short, read the psychological studies as entertainment but test their conclusions in your own life. After all, a different study done with a different audience may indicate a different result. Or so it appears to suggest.

But isn’t 59 Seconds yet another self-help book?

Since it has the blessing of science behind it, it tends to be “allowed” as a self-help book, even by the skeptics.

Do you see the illogical nature of this?

I love self-help and success literature. If it weren’t for those books, and my taking action on what I read, I’d still be unknown, unpublished and unhappy.

One night I watched a documentary on happiness. An author being interviewed (I don’t recall his name) said over 70% of the people who change on their own, without therapy or a coach, do so because of a self-help book.

When celebrity fitness model Jennifer Nicole Lee visited me for the Rolls-Royce Phantom Mastermind (which ABC News filmed) she asked me, “How did you get into self-help?”

I replied, “Because I needed help.”

I told ABC News that neither I nor any self-help author I know set out to write more than one book on self-help. It’s the readers who ask for them. It’s the market that demands more. We simply supply what they request.

When I wrote The Attractor Factor, I never considered I’d write The Key or Zero Limits after it. Neither was in my mind.

And lord knows I never intended to write my recent book, Attract Money Now. That came as a result of my seeing so many people struggling. I even decided to give the digital version of the book away, for free, to help them.

I’m proud to be a self-help author. I don’t plan to write any more books, but I never thought I’d be the author of fifty books, either. (Yes, fifty.)

The point: When you need help, consider books. Yes, there are plenty to choose from. But that’s why restaurants have more than one special. Each person is different. Each desires and feels best with a particular approach.

Books that have helped me include –

The Book of est

The Magic of Believing

Think and Grow Rich

How to Win Friends and Influence People

Why Is This Happening to Me…Again?

The Dark Side of the Light Chasers

What self-help books have made a difference in your life?

Leave a comment and let me know.

Ao Akua,

PS – Studies suggest that if you read my new book, Attract Money Now, you’ll learn how to use the Law of Attraction to attract something you might need in your life: money.

How to Let Go

Joe Vitale's RSS - Mon, 02/22/2010 - 18:45

I received this email and liked it so much I asked permission to share it with you. It helps answer how to use the law of attraction to get what you want while still finding a way to let go and be detached of the outcome. Note: The program he refers to in his email is my audioprogram called The Missing Secret.

Dear Mr Vitale, I recently had the good fortune to purchase to a selection of your material including “The Secret” and “The Missing Secret” and I have recently ordered some more of your material that I am looking forward to receiving any day now. The reason for my email is with regard to something you said in “The Missing Secret” ‘How To Let Go’.  What you stated is contrary to what 99% of authors usually say about manifesting what we want.  ie; to focus all of our attention on what we want. The reason for my email is because I have discovered that I can inadvertently manifest things into my life within a few days “IF” I dismiss the thought just as quickly as it entered my head and you are the first person EVER who has touched upon the phenomena in the Missing Secret. I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard you describe this because I have NEVER been able to manifest anything into my life by dwelling on it for any length of time, despite what the books may tell us to do.  In fact, if a “stray thought” enters my head about a friend or a loved one becoming ill or dying, I find I MUST dwell on them and that thought to be sure that “My Thought” won’t manifest itself. I realise that this must sound crazy, but I felt I needed to tell you as you are the first person I have ever heard describe the phenomena I experience.  Perhaps there are different ways of manifesting things into our lives.  My way is like a thought on superfast broadband and usually manifests itself within three days. These thoughts usually occur whilst I am driving and concentrating on the road.  Within a split second a stray thought can enter my head and just as quickly I can dismiss it and forget about it.  Once I have forgotten about it it always occurs a few days later.  And, the funny thing is, that even though that thought lasted only a split second I can always recall exactly where I was when that thought entered my head!  I can’t explain the fact that I can “remember” where I was when I “forgot” a split second thought but I can always recall exactly where I was when that thought entered my head!!! A few examples I can cite are: 1.  A couple of years ago my business and myself were struggling with life and I was bored and wanted some excitement in my life.  A split second thought entered my head (whilst I was driving) of being caught up in a robbery and saving the day.  Three days later, I was caught up in an armed robbery in my local Post Office.  No one was hurt and no one was ever caught for the robbery. 2.  A relative of mine has a flash expensive Range Rover Sport and uses it for work but won’t use it to help anyone else out.  At a recent family party he and his wife and their 3 children arrived squashed in his wife’s small car so that he could have a drink.  At the end of the evening as we were all leaving and as I watched him get into his wife’s car, I said to myself, “I hope your car gets written off.”  I said it and forgot it and three days later the brakes on a brand new van careered down a hill into the side of my relative’s Range Rover Sport.  It was a right off!  Luckily for me, no one was hurt but the Police did say if he hadn’t been driving his car he would have been dead! 3.  Since hearing you mention this phenomena I have begun to try and monitor my thoughts.  Obviously this is incredibly hard because if I think of winning the lottery for instance I can’t help myself from dwelling on the thought and almost immediately, I have sabotaged myself!  So, I tried to think of something obscure that I was not bothered about. “A blue Lego brick.”  This was something that I was able to dismiss and forget.  Four days later, one of my twin 8 year old daughters asked me to read her a bedtime story from a book she had been given at Christmas.  ”Judy Moody – was in a mood. Not a good mood. A bad mood.” by Megan McDonald.  Page 40-41…I read, “The three of them studied the ground as they walked.  Judy found five pink pebbles and a Bazooka Joe comic with a fortune that read: MONEY IS COMING YOUR WAY.  Rocky found a blue lego and a stone with a hole in the middle – a lucky stone!”  I was dumb struck!
4.  I tried an equally obscure thought: This time it was a turtle.  A few days later whilst working at my desk, I glanced down at the clear plastic water bottle I had on my desk and the base of the bottle resembled a turtle with its head and legs all stuck out.  I realised that I needed to be more specific about what I thought about. I have not taken this any further but I have found myself devouring books at an incredible rate since the beginning of the year after reading the Master Key and watching the Secret and listening to your Missing Secret.  I am now consuming books in days where once it would have taken me weeks to read through them. I realise that I am only accepting or receiving thoughts rather than instigating them.  I have often been able to think of a TV programme or a film only to discover a few days later that it would be on TV. Obviously, the TV schedules are planned weeks or months in advance, so I must have picked up on a vibration about these programmes from someone at the TV station… I guess! I don’t believe that all of this is coincidence because in 1984 I accidentally tapped into this phenomena after splitting up with long time girlfriend. Christmas Eve 1984 I sat down to watch on TV for the first time, “It’s a Wonderful Life.”  At the end of the film Jimmy Stewart’s character stands on the bridge and pleads to God, “Please God, let me live again.”  It was the most moving film I had ever watched.  I went to my bedroom and prayed with tears in my eyes and pain in my heart, just like Jimmy Stewart did.  Probably because of my sadness due to the breakup with my girlfriend (heightened emotion) my prayers were answered.  I began writing.  I was a graphic designer not a writer. I had no desire or plan to write, I just began writing, and seven days later I had written a book called “THE QUIET QUEST FOR SUCCESS.”  Every word came to me one after the other.  Quotations I used came to me from books I had never even read but I knew exactly where to find them.  I felt as though the book was being dictated to me. My book was well received by family and friends who insisted that I get it published.  I felt uneasy about this because I was not a success, I was far from a success.  I was a lowly paid graphic designer.  How could I tell people how to become a success when I wasn’t one myself.  However, I did send my manuscript to a few publishers and it was politely rejected by them all.  The book sat on a shelf in my bedroom and then ended up in a box and remained in the loft of my house when I moved here in 1987. In 1986 I met my wife.  She took me to visit a village in the Peak District National Park here in the UK called Eyam.  Eyam is famous in the UK as the plague village because in the 1600s the local vicar isolated the village to stop the plague from spreading.  Whilst we were walking around the village with the old church, the village sign and ‘ye olde stocks’ I thought to myself, “I would love to live in a village like this” and dismissed the thought. I lived in the heart of the steel city of Sheffield and I didn’t venture very far outside the city.  At night from my bedroom I could hear the trains running by and the boom boom of the forge hammers at the steel works, so this village was magical to me. The following day, I cycled to one of my sisters’ homes.  When I got there a friend of hers (whom I had never heard of or met before) was visiting.  My sister had told her that my girlfriend and I were looking for a house and her friend said to me.  ”We are selling our home, why don’t you come and have a look.”  They were selling it for £32,000 which in 1986 was way beyond our means, so I politely said I would get the details from their estate agent, but deep down I had no intention of doing so. A few days later my sister’s friend phoned me and asked me if I was coming to look at her house.  I said I would get back to her once I had spoken to my girlfriend.  That week I went and got the sale details and discovered it was in a place outside Sheffield called Harthill.  I had lived in Sheffield all of my life and I had never heard of Harthill.  I looked for it on a map and it seemed miles away, the other side of the motorway.  To someone like myself who didn’t venture too far outside the city the other side of the motorway was like visiting another country! We arranged to view the house and it was located in a pretty village, with an old church, a village sign etc., everything I had wished for in that split second whilst visiting the village of Eyam!  They sold us the house at the reduced rate of £29,950 and we have lived here for the last 23 years.  It is a quaint English village. Over the years I had often thought about my book and digging it out and rewriting it or at least getting it on to the computer.  Although I had looked for it over the years, I had never been able to find it.  In October 2009, I purchased and read the Master Key and within a week of finishing reading it I found my manuscript 25 years after first writing it in a box only 12 inches from the loft opening!  I had never noticed it before now. After I had written “THE QUIET QUEST FOR SUCCESS” I sat down on the floor of my bedroom with my head in my hands and prayed. Opposite my desk I had a large old TV.  As I raised my head, I noticed a reflection on the TV screen of a person sat at my desk with their arms outstretched.  It looked like the popular images we see of Jesus.  I immediately looked across at my desk to see no one sitting there, and when I looked back at the TV screen the reflection had also disappeared.  I can’t explain it and it is not something that I have mentioned outside of my family before.  It was uncanny. 5.  In 1985 I heard a song on the radio called “You’ll never find another love like mine.”  I didn’t know who sang it back then but I felt this was the ideal song to send to the girlfriend who had recently dumped me.  One day whilst on my lunch break, I came across an old record store that sold second hand records.  I had never seen the store before and I had never been in the building before, but that day, I walked into that store with the desire to find that record.  I walked straight in, walked to the back of the store flicked through the records and the first record I came across was; “You’ll never find another love like mine” by Lou Rawls.  I kept the record. Between 1990 when I married my wife and now, life has been difficult with redundancy etc.  I have worked for myself for many years now (mainly as a writer) but I have never made any real money.  My wife and I were unable to have children of our own.  We tried IVF but it never worked for us, so in 2002 we chose to adopt and we adopted twin girls and they are everything and more to us.   Boy, do they put life into perspective! However, before they came, I had turned my back on God (I was brought up a Catholic), my friends and my family and I suffered accordingly for it… I am only beginning to realise that now.  It has taken me 25 years to learn that lesson!   However, I now feel like I am being given another opportunity, so when I heard you describe “How To Let Go” I had an overwhelming urge to contact you.  I don’t know why I had to contact you but I am beginning to realise that I should no longer question what I am told to do, when I am told to do it. Thank you for reading this far and for giving me hope and understanding…at last! With grateful thanks! Paul Rowland. Genealogist, Researcher,

“I Love You” to Zero

Joe Vitale's RSS - Tue, 02/16/2010 - 14:15

In the book I coauthored with Dr. Hew Len (pictured below with me), Zero Limits, we explain that your unconscious mind is a database that needs to be cleaned of programming. It’s what causing you to attract what you have in your life. We also say that Ho’oponopono, the Hawaiian healing method described in the book, is a great way to do that cleaning.

Recently I’ve been reading books in the filed of neuropsychology and modern brain science. They prove that our unconscious mind is running the show. The conscious mind, the part you think is the driver in the game of life, is oblivious to all that is happening. In many ways, due to the programming in our unconscious, we’re robots. We rationalize our decisions and behavior, but where they originated was below conscious awareness.

For example, in hypnosis a person can be given the command to open a window. Later, after they’re out of the trance state and given the signal to trigger the command, they’ll get up and open a window. When you ask them why they opened the window, they”ll rationalize the action with statements such as, “I needed some air” or “I smelled smoke.” They will never explain that the behavior stemmed from a command in their unconscious.

Ken Eisold’s book, What You Don’t Know You Know, is all about our hidden motives in life, business and everything else. Those hidden motives are hidden from even us. They are in our unconscious. We, as conscious beings, simply act on what the unconscious prompts us to do.

Shankar Vedantam’s book, The Hidden Brain, explains how our unconscious minds elect presidents, control markets, wage wars, and save our lives. Again, it proves that the motor driving us through life is in the unconscious, not conscious, mind.

Since we are so unconsciously driven, does that mean we aren’t really responsible for what we say or do?

According to Vedantam, “We have responsibility for not only our conscious minds, but our unconscious minds as well.”

Back to Zero Limits. In our book, Dr. Hew Len and I explain that you are 100% responsible for your life. No if, ands or buts. No loopholes. No exceptions. It doesn’t matter where you think your motivation came from — unconscious or conscious — if it’s in your life, you are responsible for it. Note that you aren’t to blame, but you are responsible.

Given that our unconscious is hidden, powerful, deep and running the show, how in the world do we clean it up so we stop attracting messes?

Psychotherapy, popularized by Freud, is one way. But according to Dr. Eisold, “Today, there are over four hundred distinct psychotherapies.”

Four hundred!?

According to Vedantam, “Making the unconscious conscious is difficult because the central obstacle lies within ourselves.”

Well, what are we to do?

How are we going to clear the unconscious?

Here are some suggestions:

1. Miracles Coaching. When you have a skilled coach listen to your story and repeat it back to you, focusing on what you may not be hearing, you have the opportunity to make the unconscious conscious. Nothing works faster in getting results than having a Miracles Coach and taking right action.

2. The Missing Secret. This bestselling audio CD program offers step-by-step help in getting clear. There are several methods taught, and you can do them as you relax and listen.

3. Finally, in Zero Limits, we explain that the way out is the way in. The best clearing method I know is the one explained in the book: just silently in your mind say non-stop, “I Love You, Please forgive me, Thank you, and I’m sorry.” And if you want the shortest mantra of all, just say “I love you.”

“I love you” is the fast-track to Zero – that ultimate state of purity. But Zero is contaminated with programming. To get back to Zero, we need to get clear.

I’ll continue to report on other ways to clean the unconscious mind of its negative data, but for now, what could be easier than saying “I love you”?

Ao Akua,

Joe

PS – Pat O’Bryan and I created a new clearing audio you will enjoy. It combines an Alien Guitar, Sanskrit chanting, and binaural beats to create a deep and powerful cleansing sweep of your unconscious. It’s a stick of dynamite to your brain, designed to chase down and chase out all the negative programming hiding in your mind. Get details by clicking right here.

Attracting ABC News

Joe Vitale's RSS - Sun, 02/07/2010 - 20:32

Last Thursday ABC News sent journalist Dan Harris to my home to interview me about everything from the movie The Secret to the Law of Attraction to James Ray to the entire self-help movement. Along the way we took a ride in my Rolls-Royce Phantom and talked about masterminding, attracting money now, and more. It was quite “the day.”

This was ABC News’ second visit. They were here in January to film the entire Rolls-Royce Phantom Mastermind with fitness celebrity Jennifer Nicole Lee.

Being filmed in a Rolls-Royce with a gorgeous fitness model at your side is a lot different than being interviewed by a sharp mainstream TV news reporter. TV journalists can be pushy and confrontational, and you never know what they’ll ask, all while a video camera is recording your every word and expression. These interviews are often called “firing lines” for a good reason.

Dan Harris is an exception. Oh, he asked the tough questions and he kept firing questions at me, but I could see he’s a caring man with a sincere curiosity about life and people. And I had of course Googled him before he arrived and knew he is passionate about indy music as well as journalism. I saw that he is an exceptional man with an amazing ability to ask questions under pressure. I liked him. Still do.

Still, most of his questions came from a basic belief that money is bad. “You actually charge $5,000 for your Rolls-Royce Mastermind?” Yes, and I’ll be raising the price in March. “You sleep at night selling self-help books?” Of course. I’m helping people and offering solutions to their woes. “You help people to attract millions of dollars?” Actually, I help them to attract money now. “You’re OK marketing all the time?” I’m not marketing, I’m offering.

And so it went. It occurred to me later that I should have asked if ABC News charged their advertisers, and if they slept well knowing they were selling questionable drugs (with side effects such as possible death), etc. I also wondered if the interviewer got paid for sitting around and asking me questions. And doesn’t ABC News promote/market their upcoming TV shows all day long?

It’s so easy to be a critic.

The interview was from a Stage One perspective, as explained in The Awakening Course. It was all about “Who’s the victim?” and “Who’s to blame?” The other three stages of awakening, and certainly Zero Limits, could never be understood on this first level, where the interview took place.

The ABC News TV show will air in May, if not sooner. It’ll be an hour long special on positive thinking. They’ll have people against it (believe it or not) and they’ll have people for it (like me). They’re also interviewing Rev. Michael Beckwidth and Bob Proctor. On the nay side, they’ll talk with Bright-Sided author Barbara Ehremreich and Sham! author Steve Salerno.

You and I will have to wait to see how ABC edits the show. Meanwhile, I wanted to mention a brief moment Dan Harris and I had after the interview in my office.

Since Dan is deep into music (he’s also a drummer), I told him about my Alien Guitar. He asked to see some of the videos Nerissa and I created where I reveal the alien guitar to the person on camera but not to the camera/viewer. He laughed as he watched one of the clips. I offered to show the alien guitar to him while we filmed the moment but he said it might look like he was promoting it.

I then told him that my master strategy was to get a buzz going and then go on David Letterman to show and play the Alien Guitar. I told him I wanted to wait and get people really talking first.

“I wouldn’t wait,” Dan said. “I’d contact Letterman right now.”

“You would?”

“Sure. His show needs so much content that they’ll latch onto this right away.”

I paused as I considered his advice. Then something dawned on me.

I looked at Dan and said, “You know what you just did with me?”

Dan looked at me and asked, “Encourage you?”

“Yep. That’s what we do in the self-help movement.”

Dan nodded, letting it seep in.

“We listen for the latent desire already in a person and then encourage them to take action to make it real,” I explained. “Just like you did with me.”

I wish that moment had been filmed. It demonstrated what self-help and coaching is really all about.

Again, we won’t know what the entire ABC News show will be like until they edit it and air it in May. (Nerissa filmed the entire interview on her flip cam, so we can match their editing with what was actually recorded.) I think the show will be great. After all, I’m thinking positive.

As for now, I’m grateful to have met Dan Harris and attracted ABC News here. It could mean an appearance on David Letterman, with my alien guitar, will happen soon.

Ao Akua,

Joe

Suposiciones – don Miguel Ruiz Hijo

Don Miguel Ruiz - Thu, 02/04/2010 - 07:35

Assumptions – don Miguel Ruiz Jr

Don Miguel Ruiz - Thu, 02/04/2010 - 05:58

The Gestalt Principle of Closure states: “Closure occurs when an object is incomplete or a space is not completely enclosed. If enough of the shape is indicated, people percieve the whole by filling in the missing information.”

For example: If you draw two sides of a triangle, our mind has the capacity to close the image with an imaginary third side. If we draw a circle and we don’t close it, our mind is capable of closing it.

Our mind has this capacity to close geometrical shapes and images, artist have been using this technique to enhance the visual abstractions of their creation for some time. But our mind doesn’t stop there with geometric shapes, it continues to do the same in our everyday life. With people’s behavior and the reasons why they do the things they do, as well as our own actions and behavior. This is what I know as an ASSUMPTION.

We know parts of truths or events that happen in our life, we know this as PERCEPTION or POINT OF VIEW. Much like having two sides of a story, but we need that third line to have closure. But when we don’t have the rest of the information, we tend to fill in the space with stories and reasons of why, when, where, who, what, how, that we create on our own. But this third line is solely created in our mind, we take the information that we have, truths and facts, and from them we create the missing part of the information out of our own imagination. But it isn’t a fact.

The danger of creating assumptions is that we believe them and we take action based on them. Depending on our tendency, we can fill in the third line or the missing piece of information with a optimistic point of view or a pessimistic one. This is where our tendency to believe our own stories, that fill our psyche with a negative or up lifting point of view, can determine how we perceive life. We can see that the actions we take from the decision we make can be distorted by our own assumptions.

It is our tendency to create assumptions because our mind needs to know, we need closure. “Don’t make assumptions” can also be understood as “don’t believe your assumptions” because they are based on distortions, otherwise known as lies.

How can one stop making assumptions? by recognizing that we are making one. Call it out as you are saying the assumption to yourself. Don’t judge yourself or victimize your self, just accept it and realize that it is an assumption. From this, one can recover choice, the automatic decision to believe in it is broken and from there we can make a decision knowing that it is an assumption, and not to believe it until you know it is fact. Once it is fact, then you can believe it. If it isn’t, then you stopped yourself from making a decision and taking action based on a lie. This benefits us in relationships and in our work environment.

all of my love,
don Miguel A. Ruiz Jr.

Attract Money Secrets

Joe Vitale's RSS - Mon, 02/01/2010 - 14:14

According to the results of a survey I just sent to my database, the number one thing people want to know is how to attract more money using the Law of Attraction. With that in mind, here are a few choice quotes to stimulate your thinking/attracting:

“The sole purpose of money is to express appreciation.” – Arnold Patent, Money

Think about it. When you write a check to pay a bill, do you grumble and complain, or do you feel grateful for whatever service you received? I admit for the longest time I would feel lousy when I paid my bills. Now I don’t. Per Patent’s insight, when you feel appreciation, you begin to attract more to appreciate. To attract money, appreciate money and what it brings you.

“Middle-class people talk about things that came from a millionaire’s idea.” – Keith Cameron Smith, The Top 10 Distinctions Between Millionaires and the Middle Class

I love that quote, too. It makes me stop and think. Whenever I find myself talking about some product or service I greatly admire  — such as a Bugatti Veyron super car worth over a million dollars — I stop and remind myself that it was just an idea. Someone created it. I’m now desiring it. But if you step back and look at the creative process, it was somebody with a dream, who took action, that got me and everyone else talking. To attract money, be the doer of what others talk about.

‘You have no idea what’s going on, but you’re in charge.” – Guy Monroe, Austin Vocal Lab

That quote might seem out of place in the world of attracting money, but consider: most of your life is directed by your unconscious. Ultimately, you have no idea what’s happening, or why. Yet in the midst of the seeming chaos is a captain who can steer the ship through the storm. That captain is you. When you declare where you want to go, you direct the ship, the crew, and the sail to go in that direction. This applies to money, too. Who’s in charge of your money, anyway?

“Prosperity allows us to turn our attention to more transcendent matters – to yearn for lives not just of material comfort but of meaning, balance, and joy.” – Gretchen Rubin, The Happiness Project

I love Gretchen’s book, The Happiness Project, and encourage you to read it. For now, her insight about money being a tool to elevate your thinking and desires is right on the money (no pun intended). When you think of money as bad or materialistic, you limit how much you can attract; but when you realize money is a symbol and a ticket to a higher state of being, you open the doors to attract all you’ll allow.

Just food for thought…

Ao Akua,

Joe

Attracting Jennifer Nicole Lee

Joe Vitale's RSS - Mon, 01/25/2010 - 21:17

Fitness model Jennifer Nicole Lee was one of the most recent people to attend my private Rolls-Royce Phantom Mastermind.

Why would an already successful woman who’s been featured on Oprah, has a top infomercial selling her Ab-Circle Pro fitness product, is on the cover of hundreds of magazines, is seen on Home Shopping Network on TV, and has a brand new bestselling book out, want to spend time having dinner and conversation with me?

As Jennifer told me as we met for the first time and got inside my Rolls-Royce Phantom, “I could talk over coffee with friends at Denny’s, but what’s that? I want to go to the next level in my life and business. I want to brainstorm with Dr. Joe!”

We had an exhilarating time talking, brainstorming, eating (she ate almost all of her 20 oz Vitale Steak), drinking, laughing and riding around in the lap of luxury.

I loved being with Jennifer. Of course, what’s not to love? She’s fun, smart, sexy, high energy, upbeat, and dedicated to self-improvement.

She came with luggage. Not the emotional kind but the travel kind. What was in her bags? All my books and audios, which she wanted me to sign.

Clearly, this woman knows what it takes to succeed. She already transformed her life by losing 70 pounds and winning bikini contests and getting everyone to notice her, including Oprah.

But she’s not stopping there. She’s reading, growing, doing and more. She came to me for help in reaching the next level in her career, and help is what she got.

What did Jennifer say at the end of our evening together?

“My Rolls Royce Master Mind Experience with Dr. Joe Vitale positively cannot be expressed in words! It was beyond this world! Just in the first 15 minutes I got so many amazing prosperity ideas and concepts that will definitely help me increase my abundance and joy in life. Dr. Joe Vitale is someone who you must master mind with to take your entire life to the next level.”

One of the reasons Jennifer is already so successful is she takes action.

She told me repeatedly that when she reads my books or listens to my audios, and she gets an idea, she jumps. She moves. She makes it so.

It was no different with her attending the Rolls-Royce Phantom Mastermind.

She heard about it, checked it out, and then booked it to make it happen.

I generally only offer one Rolls-Royce Mastermind a month. But these days I’m doing almost one a week.

When you’re ready to jump to the next level, contact my office for dates and more information. Just email my assistant Suzanne at suzanne @ mrfire.com. You may also call my office at 512-278-1610. Or see http://www.mrfire.com/phantom

Are you ready?

Ao Akua,

PS — ABC News filmed the entire evening with Jennifer and I for a news show that will air on national TV later. That was unusual, as all the other masterminds are private, but it shows that SOMETHING BIG is happening during these Rolls-Royce Phantom Masterminds.

Note: Jennifer Nicole Lee’s website is at www.jennifernicolelee.com Her new book, which I wrote the foreword to, is in book stores now and of course at Amazon. It’s great. Get it.

Tough Times, Tough Decisions

Loral Langemeier - Thu, 09/04/2008 - 13:55

I know that American families are in crisis. Rising fuel and grocery costs have put many of you in jeopardy. Foreclosures have increased 121% over this time last year (Bloomberg News).

Many of you have to make difficult decisions to stay afloat in this economy.

It’s time to take a long hard look at how today’s economy is affecting you and what you can do about it. It’s time to start making tough decisions. The first step in any financial crisis is to look at the cold hard facts and to be honest about where you are right now.

Step One: Gather up all your financial documents. If you don’t have a financial filing cabinet it’s time to start one. A financial filing cabinet should have all of your important financial papers organized. (I wrote about this previously. You can learn more about it on my blog here.)

Step Two: Start telling yourself the truth about where your money goes and how you make decisions about money. Ask yourself if you’ve been impulse spending or if you can live without some of those luxuries for a while.

Step Three: Start a daily spending log. This will give you insight as to where your money is going. Do this for at least 30 days and longer if it helps you to be more conscientious about frivolous spending.

Step Four: Create a realistic budget. Being realistic is key here.

Step Five: Ask yourself… What can I do today to create more cash?

Everyone has something they can do to earn some extra cash here and there. Craig’s List some of those items you’ve been hanging on to for too long. It’s like an Internet garage sale. One of our staff members recently sold an old appliance on Craig’s List. It hadn’t been used in nearly two years. She earned an extra $150! It was just sitting there and she was able to pay off one of her bills. If money is low, think of ways to get more in the cycle.

Especially - get going! Create your Cash Machine, invest in your future, you can start small.

Step Six: Stick to your plan. Be diligent. Be truthful with yourself.

Remember the best way to get out of debt and be financially free is to create new money and build wealth. It’s time to get real with yourself. If you learn ways to create more money you won’t have to give up your Starbucks or date night with your spouse or friends.

People ask me all the time how to get started in wealth building. The best place to start is to educate yourself. I always say EARNERS ARE LEARNERS! Take a look at my NY Times Best Seller book, The Millionaire Makers Guide to Wealth Cycle Investing or Cash Machine for Life.

How to Ask for the Cash!

Loral Langemeier - Thu, 08/28/2008 - 20:58

Everyone has the ability to do something today that will earn extra money. People ask me all the time, “what can I do?” To tell the truth it’s different for each of us. What we need to be doing is asking ourselves what am I doing already that can make my household some extra cash.

For you moms out there who are already schlepping the neighborhood kids around to school and other activities it’s time to ask for the cash!

For those of you who have a hobby, for example quilting, don’t just give away those quilts. Put an ad up on Craig’s List and sell them.
Ask for the cash!

I know of a gal who, each morning, goes around to several business complexes and takes orders for specialty coffees. She then goes to the nearest coffeehouse or stand and rattles off her orders and delivers them to busy office workers for a small fee. Turns out the coffee shop owners were so happy for her business they started giving her a discount on her orders. Why? Because she asked them to. She is asking for the cash! She is now getting her extra money to invest in another Cash Machine.

On that same note, a retired school teacher decided she would start earning gift money for her grandchildren by delivering morning goodies to office workers in her area. She goes every other day to a wholesale store (like Sam’s Club) purchases flats of muffins and other breakfast items at a huge discount and goes around with a cute basket and sells muffins, granola bars, and other morning munchies to hungry people stuck in offices who forgot completely about breakfast. On the days she has other obligations she is missed by her patrons. They can’t wait to give her the cash. Why?
Because she asked for it!

Another example is an older couple I know of that pet sits for friends that are on vacation or away for business. They used to do it as a “favor” but realized their time, effort and extra love for animals can earn them money. It got to be so successful they now include house sitting and plant care. They decided to stop being shy and ask for the cash. Guess what…
they got it.

For those of you who are intimidated to ask for the cash, you need to be thinking what would your prospect do if they didn’t have you as a friend. The answer is that they would either have to take time away from their income earning to do it themselves or pay someone to do it. Why shouldn’t it be you?

Look, all of us want to do nice things for friends and neighbors. That’s great, however your time and effort is worth something — add in the extra trust you have because of your affiliation and you’ve got a mini cash machine. It’s really that simple.

You don’t have to do something extraordinary to make extra money. While you’re out there getting a little here and there be thinking about how to best invest your extra income in a bigger or different Cash Machine that will earn you even more.

It’s not complicated folks. Remember not to over think things. Keep it simple at first. The ideas will come.

Let’s start this conversation today. Post an entry on this blog of things you are doing that could earn you extra money. We can get the creative juices flowing for all of us!

Ignite Your Own Olympic Fire!

Loral Langemeier - Thu, 08/21/2008 - 02:52

During the Olympics we often hear of athletes overcoming insurmountable odds to compete in the biggest sports event on the planet. These stories pluck the heartstrings of people in every walk of life. Inspiration seems to fill the air!

It got me thinking how many of us struggle with foreboding thoughts. You know the ones… “What in the heck are you doing?” or “Do you really think you’re going to pull this off?” or even “No one can become a millionaire in 3 to 5 years — especially you!”

Those thoughts can come from inside us, or outside. Are you dwelling on this kind of thinking? If so, your Millionaire Mindset filter is clogged with negativity.

Look, it can happen to the best of us. Everyone has a bad day. It’s your responsibility to banish that kind of thinking, overcome challenges and keep on going!

What do you think would happen if the planet’s finest athletes were to succumb to that kind of thinking. Sheila Taormina didn’t. Against all odds she became the first woman to complete in three separate Olympic events over her athletic career. Ms. Taormina, 39 years old, competes this year along side her teammate - who’s just 16 - for the USA Pentathlon Team, an extreme physically demanding sport of shooting, fencing, swimming, equestrian show jumping and running.

Just three years ago Ms. Taormina had never mounted a horse or shot a gun. BUT she was determined. Her family and friends first thought that she was just joking around, until she sold it all to move to Colorado to be closer the Olympic Training Facility. Her family pleaded with her, telling her she was crazy. After all, she should be proud of her accomplishments thus far. Sheila was even turned away by some of her loyal sponsors, which was a complete blow to her goal of being the first woman to compete in three separate Olympic events.

What do you think Sheila did? Do you think this is the kind of woman that listens to inside or outside negativity? No way! She blew us all away and at 39 years old risked it all to become the best she could be. WAY TO GO SHEILA!

Even after nearly losing her home in foreclosure and battling serious anxiety she held on to her dream. She dared to dream big… and guess what? She did it.

She dared to inspire herself and in turn inspired her nation!

She risked it all to prove to herself and everyone else that she is a star! And she is!

She did not give up.

She did not settle.

She has the mindset that we all need to have.

Take a lesson from the playbook of one of America’s hardest working athletes!

Listen folks, Ms. Taormina in three short years learned TWO sports she had never even tried. She never had an interest in guns but she learned all she could and now has more than qualified as an expert in her sport. Her first time on horseback ended her bucked off and flat on her back. True story. In this case her horse wasn’t proverbial, she got back up on that horse and kept at it. She represents the USA and competes against the best on the planet.

If Sheila Taormina can learn, practice, and become an expert in horseback riding and shooting in 3 short years you can learn what it takes to make your cash machine work in less!

We all have things to overcome. Life is a learning process. That is why earners are learners!  Learn to Blitz Your Wealth!

Your goal of becoming a Millionaire is real. You can do it. It has been done. The odds may seem like they are against you. People might think you’re crazy, heck you might even think you are crazy. Just remember you have to filter out that negativity and reach for the GOLD. It’s there for the taking. You are a champion!

Ready GO!

Good luck Sheila Taormina you truly know how to Live Out Loud!
